On 23–25 October 2018, Wasma, the 15th Anniversary International Exhibition of Equipment and Technologies for Waste Management, Recycling and Wastewater Treatment was hosted in Sokolniki ECC in Moscow. The Exhibition was supported by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.
In 2018, the new waste management system establishment is entering its final stage, which stipulates that one or several operators responsible for solid household waste removal will be selected in each region. Besides, since 2016, a greater responsibility level is imposed on manufacturers for produced or imported produce recycling upon its expiration date. In this connection, the importance of Wasma exhibition increases every year, which is evidenced by higher numbers of participants and visitors.
This year, 92 major Russian and foreign manufacturers and distributors of equipment and technologies for waste recovery and recycling, water treatment and conditioning from 11 countries presented their equipment and services at Wasma, which is 30% more than in 2017. Over 30 companies made their debut at the Exhibition: Olympus, Pronar, Smarty Green Technology, Stadler, Abfal Recycling Russland, Virotekh, Grunt Eko, Promyshlenniye Magnity, Sisort, Stankopet, Tekhnoplus, Ergam etc.
The joint display under the auspices of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation featured the following companies: Ecoproject, BitumProm, Cominvest-AKMT, INTERCOOP, and BUMATIKA.
The list of regular participants included: R.C.P Sa, Walle, I-Plast, Abono, Anton Ohlert, Aleco Machinery, Megalion, PK Olmag, Permanent, Presona, Proshop, RG-EcoTech, RzhevMash, Servipress, Torg-Koms, Zerma, Ecocom, Ecomashgroup, Econatsproekt, Eco-Potential, EcoPromService, Ekorosstroy, Ecotechnologies, etc. The total exhibition area was over 2200 sq. meters.
Over the course of three days, 3,061 visitors from 29 countries and 70 Russian regions attended the exhibition, which is 15% more compared to the previous year. The number of potential buyers among the visitors reached 2487.
Exhibitors presented a wide range of equipment, including containers and euro containers for bulky waste, containers for separate collection of domestic waste, waste sorting equipment, recycling equipment for rubber, polymer, plastic, paper, cardboard, glass, wood, and metal products; equipment for biological waste management and recycling, industrial wastewater management, technologies for landfills restoration, urban service equipment, and also presented full cycle garbage sorting machinery.
The visitors of the exhibition were able to see the waste management equipment in action, review its technical features, and ask their questions to company employees.
The joint stand of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation displayed a model of thermal sterilising treatment plants for wastewater contaminated with Group I–IV bio pathogens, Russian household waste collection and transportation equipment, processing equipment for wastes produced by dismantling liquid roofing during overhaul or demolition involving production of new roofing materials.
Thus, Presona displayed LP 50 EH press featuring pre-pressing technology. All parts of the press contacting with the materials are made of high strength steel. 15 programs are available in the press operation system.
Tekhpolymer stand displayed household waste landfill model along with the materials used for construction and restoration of such objects.
CRS presented its vertical, horizontal, briquetting, drainage presses-compactors, shredders, waste loading stations and other specialised equipment.
Ekotek-RG stand featured a 1100 litres container with flat lid, 120 and 240 litres containers for separate waste collection, as well as a 370 litres container equipped with three wheels.
EKONATSPROEKT-AKMT brought its MCT-6963-50-4 garbage truck with rear load.
PALFINGER Group presented PALFINGER GT 30 OFFROAD, a new telescopic hook loader of large bearing capacity mounted on SCANIA P 440 B8x4HZ chassis.
Ecomashgroup stand attracted great attention of visitors. The company presented a model of garbage sorting complex with recycling capacity of 400 thousand tonnes a year and displayed different versions of technological equipment for similar complexes.
A 240 litres smart trash can capable of pressing the garbage right in the can and powered by electric grid and solar panel was exhibited at the stand of Clever Bin.
Visitors of Aleco Machinery stand were able to have a look at operation of Raptor Pro shredder, model SRP22/60, featuring a capacity of up to 400kg/hour while consuming as little as 18.5kW of power.
PK OlMag displayed capabilities of its SMPA magnet separator that consists of a magnet system conveyor made of powerful magnets based on ferrites or rare metal alloy installed under the conveyor belt of the separator.
Salmo.ru exhibited its filtering assembly for micro filtration of water and impeller- and injector-based aerators for biological sewage water treatment.
CSort’s stand presented ZORKIY series colour sorter, an innovative high-capacity system for purification of various types of powdered raw materials from hard-separable impurities.
The business programme included a series of events aimed at ensuring a dialogue between regional operators and equipment manufacturers.
A conference by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation was the opening event of the exhibition and featured a topic titled “Strategy of Waste Management Industry Development”, during which Natalia Kudryavykh, Chief of Industrial and Household Waste Management Industry and Technologies Development Department of Metallurgy and Materials Ministry Department, spoke about acting mechanisms of state support for Russian manufacturers of equipment dealing with sorting, management, and recycling of industrial wastes, who were ready to start dealing with the full waste recycling process.
A greeting speech was delivered by Boris Romanovich Paikin, First Deputy Chairman of State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship.
The representatives of the Embassy of Sweden held a workshop titled “Swedish Household Waste Recycling Experience and its Application in Russia”. Bjorn Kavalkov-Halvarsson, Head of Economic and Trade department, Embassy of Sweden in Russia, welcomed the seminar participants.
On the third day of the business program, a seminar on specific issues of compliance with increased responsibility compliance of regulated goods producers in 2018 was held.
About 300 professionals took part in the business programme events.
In 2019, Wasma, the 16th International Exhibition of Equipment and Technologies for Waste Management, Recycling, and Water Treatment will be held in Sokolniki ECC on 22–24 October.
