WASTE MARKET IN RUSSIA

Amendments in the laws of the Russian Federation:

• Starting from 1 January 2017 the extended manufacturer’s responsibility applies: compulsory waste disposal by all manufacturers and importers of certain goods in the Russian Federation or payment of the ecological dues
• Starting from 1 January 2017 a prohibition for ferrous scrap and nonferrous scrap disposal, as well as mercury-containing wastes, applies
• Starting from 1 January 2017 fixed tariffs for waste collection and transportation apply
• Starting from 1 January 2018 a prohibition for disposal of paper and cardboard wastes, tyres, auto-tyre casings, as well as wastes of products made of thermoplastics, glass, will apply
• Starting from 1 January 2019 a regional operator for waste handling will be chosen on a compulsory basis for 10 years
