Wasma 2017: 9% Growth in the Number of Visitors

On 17 – 19 October 2017, Moscow hosted Wasma 14th International Exhibition of Equipment and Technologies for Waste Management, Recycling and Water Treatment. The event was held by ITE Group, a leading organiser of exhibitions in the Russian market.

2017 was declared the Year of the Environment in Russia. Interest in this subject and the need to adopt environmental measures are promoted at the government level. Due to this, Wasma is continuously becoming more relevant and the number of visitors is growing.

This year, 70 major Russian and foreign manufacturers and distributors of equipment and technologies for waste recovery and recycling, water treatment and conditioning from 9 countries presented their equipment and services. More than 20 companies made their debut at the exhibition: Volvo Trucks, FHF Anlagentechnik GmbH, BIODEGMA GmbH, CPM EUROPE, Agrokompost, Ves Mir, RariTEK, Ecoengineering, Ecogold Standard, Econatsproject, etc. The total exhibition area amounted to about 2,000 sq. m.

Over the course of three days, 2,657 visitors from 25 countries and 64 Russian regions attended the exhibition, 9% more compared to the previous year. The number of potential buyers among the visitors accounted for 2,058.

Exhibitors presented a wide range of equipment: containers and euro containers for bulky waste; containers for separate collection of domestic waste; waste sorting equipment; recycling equipment for rubber, polymer, plastic, paper, cardboard, glass, wood, and metal products; biological waste recovery equipment, industrial wastewater treatment equipment, and utility machinery.

Thus, Volvo Trucks making its debut at the exhibition displayed Volvo FM 6x2 truck fitted out with Zoeller Medium XL-Si bed (capacity – 19m3) for the transportation of solid domestic waste in a megametropolitan setting.

RariTEK brought a multi-purpose refuse utility collector (UMKA-18) mounted on KAMAZ-65115 chassis with the record-high compaction factor and waste removal capacity in its class. The fuel distance of the collector gas-engine modification exceeds 450km.

Eco-Spectrum – Russia’s and CIS’ leading manufacturer and supplier of incinerators – demonstrated the biological waste, solid domestic waste / solid municipal waste, and medical waste recovery equipment. At the end of the exhibition, the company made several manufacturing contacts for the equipment.

Europolymer-Trading displayed the processing equipment produced by its partner Polystar that ensures top-quality waste recovery. The use of this equipment may optimise the costs of raw materials by 30%.

Eco-Potential presented turnkey modular plants for biological, physico-chemical, and mechanical treatment of industrial and domestic-municipal self-produced wastewater, design services for water treatment facilities and provision of plants with own-produced equipment.

Sutco, TYAZHPRESSMASH, Econatsproekt and Ecomashgroup presented the design, construction, and management solutions for waste sorting facilities.

ARCON, PENZMASH, Ecogold Standard, and Ecopromservice displayed their worn tyre / rubber waste processing equipment.

ODWEY showcased its turnkey solutions: PET washing and crushing lines, PE / PP washing and recycling lines, lines for wastepaper recycling into a finished product, large-size metal cutting and pressing equipment, and construction waste recycling equipment.

ABONO presented a range of innovative solid domestic waste and organic waste recycling solutions and technologies.

Aleko Machinery specialists demonstrated SRP22/60 multi-purpose single-rotor shredder for the primary crushing of polymer waste in action (capacity – up to 400kg/h).

Lanotek-Engineering’s stand featured the briquetting, recycling, and recovery equipment for metallurgical waste, as well as for industrial and agricultural organic and mineral waste.

Professionals paid particular attention to the off-site waste management solution developed by Megalion Group specialists. The technology provides for the total elimination of industrial waste requiring disposal to a landfill site and serves as an alternative to incineration and disposal.

AgroKompost presented its innovative rapid composting technology for organic waste. Among the other things, the technology may be used to manage the wastewater sludge of wastewater treatment facilities. 

BIODEGMA GmbH specialists shared their experience in extending the service life of a landfill site, reducing filtrate and biogas formation, complying with the European standards, and avoiding deliberate attention on the part of oversight authorities.

Nonwoven Fabric Factory Ves Mir presented sorbing system for surface wastewater treatment and collection of petroleum and oil spills from water surface (SoSystem®).

Ecoengineering’s stand introduced the visitors to the state-of-the-art unmatched technologies for industrial and surface wastewater treatment, as well as water and gas treatment systems.

Sovremennye Ekologicheskie Tekhnologii demonstrated the benefits of SmartCARA  SET food waste recycling unit – a compact and affordable device that does not require installation or special connection.

The waste pressing and crushing equipment was demonstrated by the following companies: CPM Europe, ProShop, Sacria Iindustries, R.C.P. SA, Walle, Pasteur Holding, Presona, Servipress.

Water treatment equipment and technologies were presented by the following companies: DANGO & DIENENTHAL GmbH, KROHNE, SALMORU, WAM-Moscow, TVENCO, TSENTR. The stands of the following companies displayed a range of dustbins: IPLAST, KONTR, TORG KOMS, RG Ecotech, Ecotechnologies GC.

The outdoor exposition of Lisopilnoe Oborudovanie featured a new articulated wood-crushing drum crusher, as well as a mulcher and a lawn-mower in action. A solid waste compactor manufactured by Ecotechnologies GC subsidiary RzhevMash was also displayed at the outdoor exposition.

This year, the exhibition business programme included a range of interactive business events – practice business games for the creation of the new solid municipal waste management system in Russia. The events were sponsored by the European-Russian Business Association (ERBA).

On 17 October, a conference-workshop sponsored by the Embassy of Sweden enjoyed huge success. A number of Swedish companies took part in the event presenting innovative waste management technologies based on sustainable development principles. Peter Eriksson, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden in the Russian Federation, attended the event and specifically highlighted that the workshop was a contribution to the Russian Year of the Environment.

The guests had an opportunity to listen to the presentation (“99% Recycling Is Possible”) by Tomas Nyland, representative of Sweden’s Waste Management Association, while representatives of Swedish companies shared their solutions in the field of integrated infrastructure technologies, energy saving, energy efficiency, bioenergy, and waste management. Six Swedish companies (Volvo Trucks, SKF, Vireo Energy, Presona, Semren&Månsson and IKEA) told the audience about the innovative solutions that they offer to their customers and partners to preserve the Earth’s natural resources.

About 300 professionals took part in the business programme events.

In 2018, Wasma 15th Anniversary International Exhibition of Equipment and Technologies for Waste Management, Recycling and Water Treatment will be held in ECC Sokolniki on 23–25 October.
