28 April 2025 Press release From 25 to 27 March, the 21st International Exhibition of Environmental Technologies Wasma was held at the Expocentre. The event was organised by MVK – International Exhibition Company. The Russian Environmental Operator (PPK “REO”), a public-law company, acted as co-organiser of the exhibition. This year, the exhibition’s scope was expanded — new sections reflected the full range of opportunities for creating a circular economy: Waste Management; Recycling, Regeneration, Recovery; Municipal Equipment; Wastewater Drainage, Water Treatment and Water Conditioning; Environmental Monitoring; Industrial Air Cleaning; and Automation and IT Solutions. More than 70 companies from Russia, Belarus, India, and China showcased their products across an area of over 5,000 m². The exhibition welcomed 2,783 professionals (a 21% increase compared to last year) from 63 regions of Russia, including representatives of industrial enterprises, waste processors, regional operators, waste treatment complexes, as well as regional government officials. The share of new visitors reached 63%. The main highlight of the exhibition was the extensive business programme, which included events attended by 1,314 delegates and over 150 speakers — industry experts from business, government, public organisations and professional associations. The business programme featured the International Congress on Environmental Technologies, the Conference on Industrial and Domestic Wastewater Treatment, the International Forum «Oil and Petroleum Product Spill Response», and an Educational Lecture Session on the management of different waste categories. The International Forum on Oil and Petroleum Spill Response drew particular attention from exhibition visitors. In his welcome address to forum participants, Konstantin Tsyganov, First Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation, highlighted the importance of the event: “In light of recent events, this area has gained particular relevance. The issue of remediating land and water areas contaminated by petroleum products is a key concern in the field of environmental management and nature conservation. Effective organisation of best practices and the development of new, efficient solutions require concerted efforts from government authorities, enterprises, scientists, and environmental experts.” The exhibition’s interactive programme provided visitors with valuable information, useful insights and engaging experiences. Throughout the three days, the lecture area featured a live art performance by Artur Palchik, who crafted paintings from recycled metal bottle caps. Visitors were invited to join the process and contribute to the creation of these unique pieces. Thanks to the Green Van workshop, visitors also had the chance to take part in plastic recycling, transforming waste into memorable souvenirs. The exhibition included designated areas for separate waste collection and photo zones decorated with art installations created by participants of the Green Square award. Featured Products and Participant Feedback The exhibition showcased air and water purification systems, equipment for collection and sorting of secondary raw materials, municipal machinery, shredders, crushers, automation systems, composting equipment, and much more. Kommash presented a 16-cubic-metre refuse truck at the JAC Motors stand, built on a JAC chassis with reduced curb weight and a new compaction control system that shortens the pressing cycle to just 20 seconds. Elena Khanina, Head of Marketing at Kommash, shared her thoughts on the exhibition: "Interest in Wasma remains strong — it's a key event in the industry. Year after year, leading suppliers come not only to establish new contacts, but also to reconnect with long-standing friends and colleagues. Kommash is a regular participant in the exhibition, and this year we launched a collaboration with the JAC brand. Visitors to the stand appreciated the design improvements in the presented refuse truck. After the exhibition, the vehicle will be sent for testing at four industrial sites." Also exhibiting at the JAC Motors stand, Wernox Group presented a portal-type container skip loader with reinforced frame construction. Igor Noskov, Head of Sales, noted the exhibition’s value as a marketing tool: “The exhibition remains highly relevant because of the high concentration of both consumers and equipment manufacturers. During the event, we learn a lot of useful details about equipment operation and receive valuable suggestions. The most important part for us is getting feedback — especially critical feedback, which helps us move forward.” The EcoPoint company presented a reverse vending machine for collecting recyclable materials, equipped with solar panels. In addition to autonomous operation, the unit gained a new function — the acceptance of glass containers. Anton Turchenko, General Director, shared his impressions: “For us, participating in Wasma is a must-have. It’s important for us to show that we’re active on the market and continue to grow. We take part in many events, but the core professional community of our industry is here. Clients and partners come to see us. We continue communicating with people we’ve met during our first participation, and we’re already discussing new projects. This is an important milestone for us to evaluate progress, explore new opportunities, and strengthen cooperation”. BMT presented equipment for water treatment and purification of industrial wastewater, as well as systems for cleaning leachate formed at solid waste landfill sites. Alexander Senatov, Deputy Commercial Director, described how the exhibition helps prepare for future deliveries: “Visitors come here to get to know us even before tenders are announced on many procurement platforms. This means that by the time a tender is published, we are already familiar with the client’s needs and have worked out possible solutions.” OCS Group showcased equipment for removing odours and air pollutants. According to the company’s CEO, Sergey Svitskov, the exhibition helps attract customers who need to see the equipment in action before making a decision. This year, the technology that drew the most interest at the company’s stand was the “Wet Barrier” system, designed to combat unpleasant odours from large sources such as municipal solid waste landfills, sludge drying beds, and sludge storage facilities.
